Treatment Philosophy: I hold a deep trust that every human has a natural ability to heal and thrive. At times, we all need support in this process. The work of therapist & client is to co-create a safe and authentic space together in which to explore this inner wisdom and agency. My approach to therapy is framed within liberation psychology and grounded in the humanistic, transpersonal and existential traditions, using both cognitive & psychodynamic approaches to therapy. I also hold interest in schema therapy, play and sandtray therapies, active imagination and body-based therapeutic techniques including attachment-focused EMDR and Holotropic Breathwork. I am currently working toward training and/or credentialing in these modalities.
Specialty Areas: Existential therapy, griefwork, teen and adult sexual trauma counseling, empowerment, and supporting the healing of anxiety, interpersonal & developmental trauma as well as post-traumatic stress disorder
Education/Experience: Limited License Counselor, MA in Counseling Psychology from Saybrook University in Pasadena, CA. Undergraduate degree in Comparative Religion and Integrative Health, Philosophy minor at Western Michigan University. Graduate work in Depth, Jungian and Archetypal Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA. and currently in a Humanistic Psychology Doctoral program with a specialization in Consciousness, Spirituality and Integrative Health studies. I worked as a therapist as well as therapist intern at the YWCA Kalamazoo for three years providing therapy and crisis stabilization.
