Specialty Areas: My experience includes over 16 years working with children, adolescents and adults in the mental health field in both individual and group settings providing treatment and assessment. My areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, anger, child and adolescent behavior problems, pre-natal alcohol exposure, improving relationship skills, personal-growth issues, coping skills, building self-esteem and positive future templates for your life.

Treatment Philosophy: My trauma informed perspective in therapy includes my belief that our life experiences, both positive and negative shape who we become and influence how we perceive ourselves, others and the world around us. As such, traumatic experiences both big traumas and smaller ones can overwhelm one’s healthy sense of self and coping systems and sometimes outside guidance is necessary to help calm and reset one’s thinking and reinforce and enhance coping skills. I believe in the individuals’ innate ability to heal, learn and grow when guided by empathic and relational therapeutic work. Therapy is a collaborative process in which the capacity to reach your full potential is assisted through the healthy relationship of therapist, client and family working together to uncover the inner wisdom that lies within all of us. 

Education/Experience: In 2004 I earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work with Clinical emphasis from Western Michigan University. Post-degree training includes my skills EMDR (Eye Movement De-Desensitization and Reprocessing)Level I and II certification, TF-CBT, Sensiormotor Psychotherapy Level I,  Parent Child Interaction Therapy, Theraplay for Individuals and Groups, University of Wisconsin Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Train the Trainer, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy, Seeking Safety and Internal Family Systems. I believe in ongoing learning and growth and seek professional opportunities regularly to enhance my skills.
